Using reflow furnace standby effectively
The reflow furnace heats solder printed on the PCB to allow melted solder to bond PCB components. The furnace requires constant high temperature and consumes a huge amount of energy while operating. Visualizing the furnace’s operating status and energy consumed discovered time periods when the furnace was not in operation and that energy was being wasted during the standby time. This discovery allowed soldering operation to utilize the energy wasted during standby for more effective use of the heat source. Combined with advanced power control technology, this resulted in shorter time for the line start-up, reducing energy usage and increasing energy productivity as well.

Advanced control technology
The in-furnace temperature and exhaust fan are now externally controlled depending on production status. This maintains in-furnace heat degree during furnace standby and speeds up furnace start-up to minimize power loss during standby. The data-based predictive control enabling the furnace to return to operation whenever required is expected to reduce per unit production power use for enhanced energy productivity.
